Hello Dear Loved
Ones!!!
It has been a pretty
great week. Can`t complain. We are so blessed!
To start off, we had
a lesson last Monday with the cute mom with the 3 little boys. Right as we got there, her boys are took off to play with friends.
That was kind of a bummer, we wanted to teach them all together. But we had a
really great lesson with the mom. We just went very basic with God is Our
Loving Heavenly Father and explaining prayer.
After we explained
prayer we asked her what she thought about it. And even before extending the
commitment she said she wants to pray! That was super great! She said she would
pray every day and we are meeting with her again today. We`re going to ask if
we can start teaching them as a family. Including her husband. I hope we can!
We are so excited to be teaching them! They are such a great family!
We didn`t get to meet
with the O---- family (The one with the parents who are deaf) this week, but we
are meeting with them today as well. We can`t wait to start teaching them
too!
So not only do we
have 2 awesome families that we are teaching but....The M------ Family also
became investigators this week!! They are the ones that the dad recently passed
away and we've been visiting them every week since we`ve moved here. Last night
we felt like we needed to go visit them. We actually ended up having a sit down
lesson with the mom. It wasn't really a lesson, or even the how to begin
teaching we are supposed to be doing. Most of the lesson was just listening to
her talk and testifying about the strength that can come from our Savior, Jesus
Christ.
She has had a hard
life and is struggling, as any person who recently lost a spouse would. I didn`t
catch all that was said, but I was overwhelmed by the feelings of
discouragement she felt and how much our Heavenly Father was just waiting to
help her. We are so excited that she agreed to meet with us again. Not because
they boost our numbers. Not just to say we have a new investigator, but because
we know how much she needs the gospel in her life. She is so prepared. I think
once she realizes the blessings that will be brought into her life because of
the gospel, she will just take off and progress so fast!
I can`t wait to start
teaching her as well!
Well we still have
our investigator, U----- Shimai. Whenever we teach her, she learns so fast.
She picks up concepts rapidly. You can
definitely see the Spirit working with in her, quickening her understanding.
It`s so cool!
Umm...What
else?
This week when we
were out housing we came across this really interesting guy. We rang his door
bell. When he came out he had this look of surprise to see these 2 young gaijin
girls standing outside his house. He had a shaved head covered with tattoos. He
had ears in both ears and one on his chin (which looked SO uncomfortable). As
we started talking to him we started our normal approach. Then in perfect
English he says, `So where are ya guys from?`. We were a little startled to
hear perfect English, with no accent, coming out of his mouth. We started
talking with him and found out that he is 1/2 Philipino 1/2 American. But he is
living in Japan. He speaks Tagalog, Japanese and English fluently. We
explained a little bit about church and he said he would be interested in
coming. He said it might be hard because he works until 5 am. So 10 am is right
when he is sleeping. But that he would try. As we were finishing with him I got
so excited! I imagined him with his hair grown out a little, the earrings gone,
and in white clothes. I was reaffirmed then that he was special to our Heavenly
Father. And that if he made a few changes, he too could experience
the fullness of joy that comes from the gospel.
That was a cool
experience.
On Saturday the ward
had a Halloween party. It was at the school of one of the members. We were in
charge of the games. We came out dressed as witches, riding brooms we bought at
the dollar store. Everyone looked at us like we were crazy. It was Hilarious.
They don`t really do a whole lot for Halloween here in Japan. That`s why were
basically in charge of the party.
One of the games was
the one where you wrap up a candy bar in newspaper and people have to roll
dice. If they get doubles then they get to put on a bunch of clothes and try to
start taking of the paper. If someone else gets doubles then you have to
switch. We tried explaining this game to them but they didn`t understand it at
all. It was so funny! They probably all just thought we were weird
Americans...but let`s face it. We are.
Anyways. We also had
them do a newspaper fashion show. The only problem was that we didn`t have any
newspapers so we used plastic bags instead.
All the little girls thought that
it was just the funniest thing. They were so cute!
We`ve had a great
week. And we are seeing much success here in Takamatsu. We know that it is not
by our work. And I agree with Ammon when he exclaims, `Yea I know that I am
nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but
I will boast of my God. For in His strength I can do all things; yea
behold many might miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will
praise in His name forever.` I know that the work being done here is not
because of us. We are just lucky enough to be the ones in Takamatsu as the Lord
shows forth His power, and miracles unfold.
I love you all
SOOOOOOOOOOO much! I miss you and pray for you all the time.
All Shimai my
love!
